Festival, Day -1

It's a rainy evening here in Oberlin, but I am all riled up and excited for the official start of the Festival tomorrow morning! I'm one of the judges for the Senior division of the Youth Solo Competition, so the morning will start with some really excellent younger violists playing gorgeous music. I can't think of a better way to start a viola festival!

Here's some of my official swag. How cool is that T-shirt?!

Though the Festival hasn't started yet, I already feel completely enveloped in this amazing community of musicians. Getting to know the Board members these last two days has been a real highlight, not to mention hearing and sharing all of the amazing ideas we have that will further the AVS's mission of encouraging excellence and fostering communication and friendship with viola-loving people and all things viola-related. I'm looking forward to the next three years as a Board member. Seriously-- it is very cool to be so deeply involved in the premiere US viola association. I'm really excited about it.

Happy practicing!
