Smorgasbord.

This morning I coached the violists of the Symphony orchestra of the Youth Orchestras of Lubbock. They were really great! All 6 had great attitudes and showed real potential. The time actually flew by, and I felt rejuvenated once I left.

I headed straight to the Rec Center, only to learn it closed at noon today because of the Labor Day weekend. Sigh. So instead I went home and practiced for a long time. I miss my bow, but still managed to get some good work done. That fingering in the Reger is definitely working for me now.

Have you heard of the College Music Society? I learned today that I won an election and am now the Treasurer of the South Central chapter.  I think this will be a unique and rewarding learning opportunity.

And I am officially participating in the 8th annual Festival de Cordas "Nathan Schwartzman"  in Uberlandia, Brazil, in October. I know I will be performing the Trout Quintet with some really amazing musicians, among other pieces. What a treat!

So, all in all, a pretty standard Saturday. :)

Happy practicing!
