Veronica's Bartok

Tonight the TTU Symphony Orchestra has it's final concert of the semester. They opened with Bernstein's Overture to Candide, which was great! The group has a really cohesive sound, and the overture was expressive and extremely well-played. It was a pleasure to listen to. After the Bernstein, Veronica Salinas, my DMA student who is graduating in a few weeks, performed the first movement of the Bartok Viola Concerto. I am so SO proud of her! She sounded really great, and what was best of all was that I could tell she was having fun. She works so hard and as a result, sometimes neglects to have fun when playing. But she remembered this evening and her performance was stellar! She has made such accomplishments in her playing this semester that I am beaming like a proud mother. It is a little ridiculous actually. :) I couldn't be happier with a student's progress and willingness to assimilate new ideas. She has truly made me proud.

Happy practicing!
