Prokofiev 5

I just go back to the hotel after performing with the Abilene Philharmonic. It was a great concert! We opened with Borodin's Polovtsian Dances, then Schubert's Piano Concerto, with pianist Alexander Schimpf, who played beautifully! and finished with Prokofiev's 5th Symphony. What an intensely passionate work! It is one of my favorite symphonies, by far. There are SO many colors and emotions and beautiful and quirky melodies. It is a really powerful piece, and I loved playing it with APO!

Usually I head straight home after a Saturday concert in Abilene (as the orchestra can't pay for Saturday night at the hotel), but I brought Tula with me this time and needed somewhere to keep her during the concert this evening. So I got the room for another night, and am so glad I did-- I am exhausted! It has been quite an intense day, so it's nice to be able to get to bed at a decent hour and delay the 2.5 hour drive until I'm more awake. Apparently Tula is pooped too-- hard day for a dog, staying in a hotel while I'm working all day!

Transient

Lubbock Symphony Orchestra Fall Chamber Concert rehearsals begin tomorrow evening-- it'll be a whole new orchestra adventure! Wow, I've been playing SO many orchestral programs lately-- it's great!

Happy practicing!

Oh, and an update-- I have been trying to post more Brazil pictures, but apparently the internet connection here at the hotel isn't quite up for the task. More soon!
